Leach joined in 1930 the Leach Pottery was suffering fom
technical issues. He took a course in Pottery Management
at what his father Bernard called the home of the Industrial
Devils, Stoke-on-Trent. On his return he made changes that
helped the pottery survive and prosper and a range of standard
ware was introduced. David left to start his own pottery
at Lowerdown near Bovey Tracey in Devon producing his own
range of standard ware alongside individual pots.
On a personal note, I remember David with great affection.
He was a great potter, teacher and family man who always
had time to help others.
