York Museums Trust has a huge collection of studio ceramics and supporting archives thanks mainly to bequests from Bill Ismay, Eric Milner-White, Henry Rothschild and Anthony Shaw. The Trust's flagship gallery, the York Art Gallery is currently closed until Easter 2015 whilst undergoing an £8m refurbishment. Most of the pots are in storage but some of the Bill Ismay collection are on show as an installation at the recently opened Hepworth Wakefield. The Hepworth Wakefield is well worth a visit, if you can't make this exhibition which is on until January 26th 2014, I will be visiting the exhibition in January and images will be posted after that.

Curator Helen Walsh has kindly provided archive images of all the Mick Casson pots owned by the York Museums Trust which are displayed in chronological order. In the spring of 2014 the pots will be re-photographed and the images shown here will be replaced.

Helen has placed a very interesting exhibition of Bill Ismay and his pots in the Google Cultural Institute, click here to view.
